Text: I Corinthians 15:49-58

1. Justin talked about how cold he was at his son’s soccer game and acknowledged that sometimes it’s difficult to look on the bright side and be optimistic. Talk about a recent situation where you were able to look on the bright side or a situation where you found it difficult to be optimistic.

2. The last few years have proven that sometimes optimism isn’t enough. Sometimes the glass isn’t half full, sometimes it’s broken or empty reminding us that life is often fragile and unpredictable. What are some unpredictable moments that have you walked through these past two years?

3. There is an existing predictable reality that a day is coming when we will all die, even though we don’t know when or how. Talk through a moment when you, or someone you know, had a brush with death but survived. How did it affect your perspective about your life moving forward?

4. One of the beauties of the resurrection of Jesus is that His power over death gives us hope; hope for what happens after death and hope to face unpredictable moments. Talk specifically about the eternal hope you have in Jesus and how that has shaped your responses during unpredictable moments.

Take some time together and thank God for life, for Jesus’ victory over death, and for the hope provided through His resurrection. Pray for each other for a fresh perspective of life today and for strength for tomorrow because of the hope we have when Jesus defeated sin and death.
