Our Identity

Four marks. One family.

These four marks define us. A group is not measured by its size or its years together, but by whether all four are present and growing.

Word

We gather around the Gospel in Scripture, not a topic, a hobby, or a host. Sunday’s message becomes the week’s practice.

Prayer

We depend on God together. Prayer is not the closing formality; it is the lifeblood of the group.

Family

We are a spiritual family, not a meeting, truly known, genuinely cared for, and lovingly called higher.

Mission

We live outward, welcoming, serving, and multiplying, disciples who make disciples.

At Vox, we believe real life transformation happens not only in the Sunday gathering, but in smaller, consistent communities where we live out our faith together, mirroring the early church in Acts 2:42–47, who met in the temple and house to house, breaking bread and sharing life.

Community Groups are a primary space where discipleship happens, where we don’t just hear the Word, but practice it. They are how we carry the church into our neighborhoods, workplaces, and cities.

Built around a shared interest or season of life, walking groups, coffee groups, and the like. A wonderful relational on-ramp into the life of the church, but not yet a Community Group.

One Family

One family, across every season.

Our deepest identity is family. In Christ, we are not simply people who attend the same church, we belong to one another. This identity does not come from a campus, a life stage, or a shared interest. It comes from who we are in Christ.

Our culture pulls us toward people most like us. The family of God is beautifully different, bringing together the young and the old, the new believer and the seasoned saint, singles and families. Our goal is for every person to belong to an ongoing Community Group, not simply attend one.

Instead of sorting groups by life stage or interest, we center them where you live. Proximity provides opportunity, and there’s something uniquely powerful about sharing life with the people right around you.

When & Where

A rhythm you can sustain.

Every group follows two rhythms: a weekly gathering around God’s Word and prayer, and a seasonal rhythm of building relationships, living on mission, and planned Sabbath rest.

September – November

Fall

Gather, study the Word, and grow as the new semester launches.

January – March

Winter

Go deeper in community and biblical foundations together.

Spring

Keep growing and turn outward on mission to the city.

Pause the weekly rhythm for fun, rest, and creative outreach.

Weekly gatherings • about 8–20 people • roughly 90 minutes • in homes and nearby places. Sign-ups open at the start of each session, check in and get connected.

Before Your First Night

What can I expect?

Whether you’re new or just curious, here’s what happens between signing up and walking through the door.

Communicating with your group leader

Once you sign up, a group leader will reach out by text or email to welcome you and share the details — meeting time, location, and format.

  • Respond when you can, just to confirm you’re coming.
  • Have a question? Ask. Leaders love helping newcomers feel at ease.
  • Running late or can’t make it? A quick text keeps the door open.
Hospitality — what the room is like
  • Come as you are. Most groups are relaxed and casual. Dress comfortably and be yourself.
  • Food and drink. Many groups share snacks or a meal. You may be invited to contribute as relationships grow.
  • A warm welcome. You’ll be greeted and included without being put on the spot.
What we ask of everyone
  • Embrace the awkwardness. Starting something new feels strange, and that’s okay. Everyone has been the new person.
  • Engage the conversation. Groups are a discussion, not a lecture. Share when you’re ready, and listen well.
  • Be open to growth. You might be encouraged to reflect or rethink. That’s the point.
  • Respect confidentiality. What’s shared in the group stays in the group.
  • Commit to consistency. Regular attendance is how relationships deepen.
  • Contribute. Your voice, your questions, and your presence matter.
Tips if it’s your very first time
  • Dress casual. No need to dress up.
  • Bring a friend — coming with someone you know eases the nerves.
  • Be real. Your authentic self is welcome here.
  • Traveling or stuck at home? Ask your leader whether the group has a virtual option.
