Text: Luke 15:11-32

1. Talk about a time when you misunderstood what someone was saying. What did you think you heard? What did they actually say/mean? Did you share a good laugh with them or was it frustrating?

2. The most dangerous misunderstanding is to misunderstand God's heart. In the past, what were some assumptions you made about God, Christianity, or even the church before you were a believer? Why? What changed your mind?

3. Which of the two brothers do you identify with more; the younger son who rebelled but returned back to His father, or the older brother who has always been with the father but has gone through seasons of pride or ungratefulness?

4. What comes to mind when you think of God as your loving, trustworthy father? Take a moment as a group and pray Ephesians 3:18 over each other as a son or daughter of God. “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.”

Break up into pairs and talk through attachments that are hindering your relationship with the Lord right now. Then pray together that the love of the Father will draw you into a deeper relationship with Him.
