Text: 2 Samuel 9:1-13

1. The word “gracious” means courteous, kind, and pleasant. Who is the most gracious person you know? Describe why you chose them.

Here are five observations about gracious people:

Gracious people are always on the lookout for people in need of kindness.

2. Pastor Lance said “We are not called to be reservoirs. We are called to be rivers.” Talk about the last time someone was gracious to you. What did they do/say?

Gracious people are fueled by the grace they have received. (Ephesians 1:6-7)

3. When the person you mentioned from question #2 was gracious to you, how did it impact you? In what ways did it motivate you to show that same kind of grace to someone else?

Gracious people speak gracious words.

4. Colossians 4:6 says “Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.” Can you recall something positive someone said to you that had an enormous impact in your life?

Gracious people always elevate human dignity.

5. In what ways can a believer today elevate human dignity with graciousness?

Gracious people are lavish in their kindness.

6. Think through the people you are around every week. Who could you show some lavish grace to this week? What ideas is the Lord putting on your heart to do? Share them with the group.

Take some time and pray together for a heart change towards graciousness in your life. Pray for opportunities to show the kind of grace we have received from Jesus and to share why. Pray for people by name to receive it well and be open to listening about Jesus.

For further study: Look up Luke 4:14-22a and discuss the scenario that took place. Talk about the emotions and heart posture the people had during this scene. Talk about the impact of Jesus’ words.
