TEXT: Acts 9:19b-25 (ESV)

HOPE

 • Share a time when you stepped out in faith and God opened a door for you?

HEAD

 • Read Acts 9:19b-25. Discuss this portion of Scripture which takes place right after Saul's conversion and shows how he responds as a new follower of Jesus or disciple. Did Paul allow his the fear of his past or old life keep him from pursuing God's will for His life? How did Paul respond in the face of opposition? How did Paul get out of the situation?
 • Read 1 Timothy 1:12-16. Timothy is Paul's son in the faith. Why do you think Paul shares this with Timothy?
HEART:
"In every generation—God meets his people with unique solutions to scale the walls they face. In Paul’s time the church faced a WALL of persecution. In our time the church is hindered by the deep cultural commitment to think of ME before WE. - Justin Kendrick
 • Discuss this attitude of “Radical Individualism” ME before WE in the church, in what ways do you see this portrayed in the larger church, local church, or in your very own life?
 • Discipleship is to apprentice under Jesus by following HIS way and allowing HIS way of life to reframe ALL of our life in the framework of relationship & ownership. Discuss together what this means to you?
 • Luke 12:34, says “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" What you do with your money shows what you value with your heart. Why do you think money is a WALL for the Christian? What hinders radical generosity? What does money offer?
HANDS

 • What is one step that you can take to own your Discipleship or Following of Jesus in the area of Heart: Character, love for God, Head: Theology, life of the mind Hands: Service, Action?
