TITLE: TIME ON THE ROAD
HOPE:
Where have you seen God at work in the last week?
HEAD:
Read Luke 24:13-34
- Why did the disciples not recognize Jesus?
- Verses 17-24 - What did Jesus ask them and how did the disciples respond?
- Verses 25 - 27 - How did Jesus respond and what did Jesus do?
- What does this tell us about the Old Testament?
- When did the disciples recognize Jesus? Why do you think this is so?
HEART:
- Share a time when you lost something and it was literally right in front of you.
- How do we miss Jesus today? Where are you noticing a loss of desire or hope?
- Jesus met the disciples on the road because of His relentless pursuit of His people, where is Jesus trying to get your attention calling you back to the place of a burning heart? (Conversation, Sermon, Scripture, etc.)
HANDS:
Take Communion together as a time of remembrance.
- Read Isaiah 53:2-11 and take a few moments to pray prayers of Thanksgiving for what Christ has done for us, by bearing the weight of our sin and making it possible to be counted as righteous.
- Take Communion Together: "Luke 22:19-20 says, "And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you."
- Challenge: Spend more time practicing a Seeking God Lifestyle. Prioritize time in the Scriptures and in prayer.
