Text: Ephesians 4:31-5:2

1. When you were a kid, what was a movie that your family loved to watch together? Talk through the friction of relationships displayed in that movie.

2. Does forgiving others feel more like a command of Jesus or an invitation from Jesus to receive freedom? How does the example of Jesus at the cross call us to live a life of forgiveness?

3. Describe what the Christian life would be like if forgiveness (giving up the right to seek repayment from the one who harmed you) were to be the default, rather than anger or frustration.

Break up into pairs and, in confidence, share with one another one of two things or both:

1. A story of forgiveness from your past that had a great impact on you.
2. The name of a person where unforgiveness has taken root. What is the invitation that God is calling you to do this week so that you can be free?

Take some time and talk through what forgiveness would look like and then pray for each other for the strength to forgive.
