40 Days of Compassion Stories

The season of Lent is forty days for the global church to turn, seek, and remember the journey of Jesus toward the ultimate act of compassion for us on the cross. This season is an opportunity for the church to remember his sacrifice, reflect on his heart towards us, and prepare to celebrate his resurrection on Easter. These are just a few of the hundreds of stories we've received during this season. Check out some ways that God is moving through our church to love those around us during this season of Lent and learn more about 40 Days of Compassion here.

"A family I know was in need of a deep house cleaning. The parent works 2 jobs and was behind with home duties. Kitchen, fridge, bathroom, and laundry all spotless. I took initiative to deep clean the entire house. She works serving her community, and I wanted to help her during her time of need."

"A man was standing on the street with a sign asking for help. We did not have anything in the car, and were pressed for time because of something we were heading to. One of our children lovingly gave up their snack they hadn't eaten yet for the man, and we prayed for him. He was so grateful."

"A co-worker has just gone through a difficult divorce after being in an abusive relationship and is really struggling financially. She has not had internet or cable for months because she is so far past due. I paid for her internet/cable bill, bringing it current and through her tears was able to tell her how much Jesus loves and values her. This act of compassion opened the door for us to talk about forgiveness, redemption and unconditional love."

"I am in a rehab center learning to walk again. There is a young nurse's aide who helps me.  I found out she loves black and white cookies from Stew Leonard's.  So I used instacart and had some delivered here.  She brought the bag here and handed me my cookies. I said no, they are for you. She was jumping with joy because no one from here had ever bought her a gift."
